Earlier today my Luscious Lau sent on my website to her beautiful friends and traffic has been busy - nice to see, but still well short of Sudirman! Anyhow, thought a brief recap on what I'm trying to do was called for.

So what's it all about? As laid out on the homepage, it's a 1250 km run along the equator from Bali to Jakarta starting on the 8th of March 2012. I'll need to average around 50 kms a day for 25 consecutive days, the equivalent of 30 back-to-back marathons in order to get home on the 1st April. The run will take me through 5 Indonesian provinces: Bali, East Java, Central Java, West Java and Jakarta and I expect to take in some amazing sites and no doubt get my fair share of tropical heat and humidity. That's the easy part... YEAH right! Well perhaps a touch easier than securing corporate sponsorship to a level that I would really like, Rp1 Billion - circa US$100,000, but please keep that to yourself. Hopefully the reverse will be true. I'm getting a bit of help with funding raising strategies (thanks Jim) and now trying to put some steerage to it with 3 weeks until things kick off.

My principal motivation for a world first Bali to Jakarta run is to raise as much funds as possible for 2 charities that help children in Indonesia - Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) and Mary's Cancer Kiddies (MCK). Berlari untuk memberi Harapan - Running to give Hope. YCAB giving kids hope through education and MCK simply giving kids (and their families) hope.

So please help me help them. Makasih...
